Peer-Review Policy
JELI adheres to a rigorous double-blind peer-reviewing policy. Each manuscript is first desk-reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief, and then assigned to members of the Review Panel for double-blind peer-review. The Editor-in-Chief does not review the submissions but assures that they are in the scope of JELI and meet the minimum requirement of formatting. Submissions are reviewed by a minimum of two reviewers (except for book/software reviews, letters to the editor). The Review Board is composed of terminal degree holders and doctoral candidates. JELI is careful to assign manuscripts that align with reviewers’ expertise. The average time for the completion of the review takes about 12 weeks.
Publication Ethics
JELI is highly sensitive to copyright infringement and plagiarism. We take the claims of plagiarism or misuse of published articles very seriously and protect the rights of our authors. We also protect the reputation of the journal against publication malpractice. Additionally, JELI upholds the following standards:
- honesty in research and accountability for research integrity
- care and respect for participants of research
- non-discrimination against individuals involved in authorship, editing, or reviewing of the published papers based on identity or personal characteristics
- active efforts to encourage submissions from scholars from diverse backgrounds that have historically been under-represented in academic spaces
By submitting a manuscript, authors agree that they comply with these standards and undertake the relevant responsibilities.
